In this video, two members of the Security Industry Association (SIA) RISE community for young professionals share how they got involved with the security industry and explore topics around hiring and workforce development for young talent. Morgan Khov, technical project manager at Northland Controls, and Amanda Payne, program manager at Convergint Technologies, discuss what companies can do to better attract and retain young professionals, explore challenges the security industry and integration companies face when it comes to drawing in young talent and share success stories from their companies that others may be able to emulate.

SIA RISE is a community that fosters the careers of young professionals in the security industry. Participation in RISE is available to all employees at SIA member companies who are young professionals under 40 or have been in the security industry for less than two years. RISE offers a variety of benefits to its members, including fun in-person and virtual networking events, career growth webinars and e-learning courses on topics of interest, a scholarship program [https://www.securityindustry.org/professional-development/scholarships/rise-scholarships/] to help students and young professionals meet their educational and career goals, mentorship opportunities through SIA’s Talent Inclusion Mentorship Education (TIME) program, and career tracks at ISC West and East. Additionally, RISE is gearing up for the 2022 AcceleRISE conference — an event for young security professionals and those new to the industry designed to ignite new thinking, strengthen leadership, and sharpen business acumen in young talent. AcceleRISE 2022 will take place Aug. 1-3 in Austin, Texas, and registration is now open; learn more and sign up to attend here.
